URGENT: LET’S HELP RESTORE THE HEALTH OF JUAN VÍCTOR RETAMOZO ASMAT A family fighting to hold on to hope. Today, they need you more than ever.

On December 6th, just three blocks away from reaching his home, Víctor Retamozo Asmat suffered a devastating car accident. While trying to avoid a major collision, his car crashed into a concrete wall. He was rushed to the hospital and later transferred to the intensive care unit because his body was severely injured.

Víctor suffered a broken jaw, a fractured clavicle, and multiple broken ribs. His right leg had a fractured femur. In his left leg, the impact tore the skin open and dislocated his knee, exposing tendons and joints, and he also fractured his ankle. He additionally has three broken fingers.

His first surgery lasted over 11 hours, requiring four consecutive operations to save his life. Since then, he has received 5 units of blood and undergone 6 additional surgeries to stabilize his condition. Doctors performed three incisions on his left side to drain the blood accumulating in his lungs and thoracic cavity.

Due to the severe trauma his body has endured, doctors estimate that returning to walking and regaining his life will take 9 to 12 months of rehabilitation. Tragically, he will have to learn how to walk again.

As days have passed, Víctor has struggled to breathe on his own because his lungs appear to have fused together. Doctors must separate them and locate the source of internal bleeding. Today, he underwent his fifth major surgery, which lasted approximately 4 hours.

Víctor is the sole provider for his home. He is the father of three children who desperately need him. His wife and children are facing not only the agony of watching him go in and out of surgery, but also the overwhelming financial burden he always carried with love and responsibility.

URGENTE: AYUDEMOS A RECUPERAR LA SALUD DE JUAN VÍCTOR RETAMOZO ASMAT Una familia lucha por mantener la esperanza. Hoy te necesitan más que nunca.

El 6 de diciembre, cuando regresaba a casa y estaba apenas a tres cuadras de llegar, Víctor sufrió un terrible accidente automovilístico. Por evitar una colisión mayor, su carro terminó estrellándose contra un muro de concreto. Fue trasladado de emergencia al hospital y, posteriormente, a la unidad de cuidados intensivos porque su cuerpo quedó gravemente herido.

Víctor tenía la mandíbula rota, la clavícula fracturada y las costillas rotas. En su pierna derecha se rompió el fémur. En la pierna izquierda, el impacto rompió la piel y dislocó la rodilla, dejando expuestos los tendones y las articulaciones, además de fracturarse el tobillo. También tiene tres dedos de la mano rotos.

La operación duró más de 11 horas porque tuvieron que realizarle cuatro intervenciones seguidas para salvarle la vida. Adicionalmente, ha recibido 5 unidades de sangre y ha tenido que enfrentar 6 cirugías adicionales para lograr estabilizarlo. Le realizaron tres incisiones en el costado izquierdo para drenar la sangre acumulada en sus pulmones y en la cavidad torácica.

Por todos los daños que su cuerpo ha recibido, los médicos estiman que volver a caminar y retomar su vida le tomará entre 9 y 12 meses de rehabilitación. Lamentablemente, tendrá que aprender a caminar nuevamente.

Con el paso de los días, Víctor ha tenido dificultad para respirar por sí mismo, debido a que sus pulmones parecen haberse unido. Los doctores deben separarlos y encontrar de dónde proviene la hemorragia interna. Por ese motivo, hoy Víctor tuvo su quinta cirugía, que duró aproximadamente 4 horas.

Víctor es el sustesto de su familia. Es padre de tres hijos que necesitan de él. Su esposa y sus niños enfrentan no solo el dolor de verlo entrar y salir de cirugías, sino también la desesperación de cargar con las responsabilidades económicas que él siempre asumió con amor y responsabilidad.
