I am heartbroken to share my brother's story of the past few months. He lost his job several months ago and was forced to take a job for much lower salary to keep his family afloat. Last month his whole family battled COVID-19 infection and thankfully recovered. But earlier this month he tragically lost his oldest daughter. He has an amazing wife, Rainya (who is an ovarian cancer survivor), and 3 surviving children. They are the kindest humans you will ever meet. I am hoping to help at least alleviate some of their financial strain during this difficult time . The first thing they plan to do is set up grief counseling for the family.
Here is a tribute from my brother, Jon, and his wife, Rainya, to their dear daughter Kamiah.
"No parental words could ever express how grateful we are to have Kamiah as our daughter. She is one of the brightest, most intelligent people that we know and possesses an equally outstanding spirit! She is our personal hero! She is an incredible and avid reader, baby sitter, pianist, artist, medical assistant, sister, daughter, aunt and wife. She is fiercely independent, honest and always willing to stand up for what she believes. We love her with all our hearts.,
This picture of our princess was taken nearly 6 months ago on the day of her beautiful wedding to her beloved Joey. Her soul mate. The love of her life. She was just glowing with love and happiness. Isn’t she gorgeous? She lived one of the most heroic lives that we know of. She overcame so much opposition and obstacles throughout her short time here on earth. Whether it was having to overcome the fear and grief from her mother going through cancer when she was a little girl or having a debilitating case of mono for two years during her high school years. She also had to endure mental illness including high functioning autism, severe anxiety and mild bipolar.
In the most tragic event we’ve ever experienced, she took her life on December 10th, only 5 days after her 18th birthday. After careful investigation and heartfelt prayer, we are completely convinced that this was a tragic accident caused from a pharmaceutical drug to drug interaction that she had started 8 days prior and somehow caused her brain to turn on her suddenly.
We know she is in the spirit world where she is free from her anxiety and fears and experiencing joy with ancestors. She is safe and in the loving care of our Savior now. This feels impossible and is the hardest experience we have ever gone through but we know we can do hard things with the help of our Lord, family and friends. We love you sweet Kamiah."
