Please Help Support the Family of Musician Shutong Li
On February 13th, 2026, our dear friend Shutong Li tragically passed away following a car accident after a music rehearsal. He was only 35 years old.
Shutong was not only a gifted musician and conductor, but also a devoted husband and loving father. His sudden passing has left his family facing unimaginable grief and an uncertain future.
I am writing on behalf of his family to honor his life and to help support them during this heartbreaking time.
Shutong lived his life with passion, kindness, and deep gratitude toward others. He went by theKiteRunnerLee online — a name that perfectly captured his spirit. Like someone running with a kite into the wind, he was always looking up toward the sky, chasing music, beauty, and hope.
To those who knew him, Shutong was a light. He believed deeply in kindness and generosity. He often said that simply saying "thank you" was never enough, and he dreamed that one day he would repay every act of kindness he had received with even greater kindness. More than anything, Shutong loved his family. He often spoke about teaching his one-year old son how to play the piano and making music together. He dreamed that one day they might even perform their own father-and-son symphony.
His young child had just begun to say "Daddy," yet has already lost the person who loved him the most.
During his final days in the hospital, his family remained by his side, holding on to every bit of hope. Despite all efforts and prayers, he ultimately left us.
Amid this unimaginable grief, the family recently learned they are expecting a second child — a continuation of Shutong's life and love, and a new source of hope for the future.
We are raising funds to help support Shutong's family during this incredibly difficult time. The funds will assist with medical expenses, funeral arrangements, childcare, and ongoing support for his family and children as they move forward after this sudden loss.
