Hello my name is Khristina and I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), and it has completely changed my life. It’s become very hard for me to walk or stand for long periods without having excruciating pain, and because of this, I’m unable to work. I’m currently on medical leave, and I need to get better in six months so I don’t lose my job. I haven’t lost my job yet, but being on leave for this long caused me to lose my medical insurance. To continue my leave and care, I need to pay for COBRA insurance, but I haven’t started paying for it yet because I don’t have the money to do so. State insurance is available but won’t cover all the treatments I need at this time to manage my care.

Seeing my MS specialist and getting infusion therapy are also getting expensive, and I need help paying for these medical bills. Right now, I need to see a physical therapist to help manage my symptoms, but the costs are overwhelming since not having the right insurance. The most costly treatment is the therapeutic plasma exchange, which is a big reason for my fundraiser amount. I’m considering other options of care management since, steroids and treatments I’m currently doing are not working and I seem to be getting worse and the pain keeps getting worse. Considering a plasma exchange to see if it will help me get better so I can walk and stand again without pain and hopefully keep my job. But that’s another expense I can’t afford on my own. On top of the medical bills piling up, other monthly bills are past due, and I’m struggling to keep up.
