Yesterday afternoon, a wind-whipped fire destroyed or damaged six homes near Bridge Street in the Christian Hill neighborhood. One of those homes belongs to our very own Lowell High School math teacher, Samnang Hor, and his family.

During his decade at LHS, Mr. Hor has always been there for students and staff; he has served as a teacher, a tutor, an assistant coach, and a mentor. He also serves as Vice President for the Lowell Youth Leadership Program, which received the National Honor Society Golden Torch award last year from the MSAA, the organization which oversees NHS chapters like ours statewide.

We would also like to recognize that this fire has affected several families in Lowell, so spreading the word to connect with others on ways that we could help as a community would be very helpful and important.

Again, helping in any way could make a huge difference for Mr. Hor and his family.
