Support for Monique Brown-Barrett's Family

Hello everyone. As a dear friend of this family that resides in Byram, Mississippi, I have witnessed the unimaginable few months that led to the loss of my friend, Monique Brown-Barrett. Monique was diagnosed with two types of stage 3c lung cancer in late September 2021 after battling an infection and persistent cough that she could not get rid of. Yet, she was determined to fight as she has for so many families for over 20 years as the best family law attorney and guardian ad litem anyone has ever known in the State of Mississippi. And fight, she did.
After two and a half weeks of multiple medications, infusions, radiation and chemotherapy drugs combined, and two surgical procedures, the doctors determined that because of the metastasis to other areas of the body, rapid tumor growth, and lung damage from cancer, they were halting treatment on my 56-year-old friend and immediately placing her on hospice with palliative care. We were all stunned as we knew the end was coming near but prayerful for healing because God has the last word. Her only wish was to spend her last days with family and a select few friends in her favorite place of travel from a tradition that her beloved father started over 30 years ago. It would take selling the family vehicle and every resource left to grant her dying wish. Four days into this impromptu trip, there was a rapid decline, and Monique started the physical transition. She passed away surrounded by the family around 4:45 am, November 17, 2021. Though she has been called home to be with our Savior, the few months of the battle for life depleted all financial resources available to the family. The law practice is officially closed now that Monique has passed away and some employees were family members. If you knew Monique and her wonderful family, you know that they would give you the clothes off their backs if they knew someone needed the help. So many are recipients of this virtuous woman’s love for all and her caring will. My family is one of those recipients.
Because so many people have asked how they can help, this Go Fund Me account was created on behalf of the family of Monique Brown-Barrett. Any donations go directly to the family for the mentioned expenses. However, if you are led or compelled to do so, the family would appreciate any assistance that would help cover funeral expenses, insurmountable medical expenses that the family has incurred, and ease the burden of the immediate financial hardship before them. Thank you for your considered donation, support, and continued prayers.
A prominent law office that provided most of the family’s income is now closed. Please share this story if you are compelled to do so, hoping that we can be a blessing to the family of a beautiful pillar in the community, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend that has been a blessing to so many. Your prayers for this family are continually needed and appreciated.
Thank you so much.
