Cancer took three years to defeat Monika, a loving wife, mother, friend, and neighbor. She leaves behind her grieving husband, Marius Janusaitis, a 17-year-old son, Mantas, and a 13-year-old daughter, Viktorija, as well as everyone who knew her and will miss her wonderful spirit.
When Monika was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, she was determined to fight for her life. She battled the disease with immense willpower and made use of everything medicine had to offer. Monika played the Lithuanian national instrument kankles in the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) "Nemunas". She was also active in the Lithuanian American Sports Club of Connecticut, the Vaiva Vebraite Lithuanian American Heritage School, and the Hamden Heronettes Artistic Swimming Team.
Those of us who knew Monika hope that many will offer support to her bereaved family during this difficult time. We sincerely thank you, on behalf of the family, for any contributions you can make.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. On Saturday morning, Monika’s funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery.
