Monika is a beloved mother, friend, potion master, educator, and colleague. She is a co-creator of Monk Oil, and one of the longest-serving faculty members at the Brooklyn Waldorf School.
Monika has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, she was diagnosed at the earliest possible stage, and it is 100% treatable!
Monika is going to have a double mastectomy on September 11.

Although the first two weeks will be the hardest, full recovery from the surgery will require at least 8 weeks. She will not be having reconstructive surgery (#putFLATonTheMenu ).
Monika has health insurance, and her maximum out of pocket cost is $9,000 which she expects to reach. If there are any additional funds they will go towards uncovered medical expenses and support for her when she is able to return home. In addition, we would like to help support and care for her daughter.
Monika is also seeing a holistic doctor for pre- and post-surgery protocol, which we would like to support through this fund. If there are any funds left after these expenses, Monika would like to donate them to breastcancer.org .
