My name is Heba, and I am reaching out during one of the most difficult times in my life. My sister, Monica Kalbe, was diagnosed with pyoderma gangrenosum—a rare and aggressive skin disease linked to autoimmune conditions. For about eight months, Monica was misdiagnosed, and the treatments she received only made her condition worse. What started as a small sore eventually spread over both of her legs, causing her immense pain and leading to constant hospitalizations for over a year and a half. In August, doctors considered amputating Monica’s legs, but her body was already weakened by ongoing infections. Despite every effort, her health continued to decline. Monica left the hospital on October 29th, but her condition worsened, and we sought help at a different hospital. On November 8th, her right leg was amputated, and on November 23rd, her left leg was removed. Tragically, Monica passed away on November 24th. She was a loving mother to her 9-year-old son, and I am now caring for him as we navigate this heartbreaking loss together. I am asking for help to cover Monica’s cremation costs.
