Support for Monica Kimon's Funeral Services

Donation protected
This campaign has been set up to help support my family and me to cover the cost of my mother’s funeral.  My mother was the strongest woman I have ever known.  She was very caring and compassionate and even in her darkest moments, she always looked out for others.  My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.  She continued to work and provide for me while fighting cancer.  She fought the disease and through her perseverance, she became a five year cancer survivor.   In the years after she battled cancer, her health was stable and she was getting back to her normal, daily life.  However, in 2017 she was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, which is a condition that affected the arteries to her lungs with high blood pressure.  In January 2018, she was admitted into Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, with the hopes of receiving a lung transplant.  As a result, my mom was in the hospital for over a year.   While the wait for a matched donor seemed to last for years, in March 2018 she had the surgery for her lung transplant and things were beginning to improve.  However, in the months following her transplant her health would at times improve then weeks later it would decline.  Her strength allowed her to bounce back from every setback that came her way.  In February 2019, my mom and her team of doctors made the decision to put her into hospice care.  It was one of the most difficult choices she had to make in her entire life but for the first time she put herself first, as she wished to be pain free.   On February 7th, 2019 my mother, Monica Kimon, entered the next stage in her journey.  I miss her energy.  I miss her love.  I miss her compassion.  But I know she is in a better place with no pain or suffering.

Due to my mother's health concerns, she was unable to work for over a year and half.  There was no consistent source of income during these trying times.    As a result, my family and I are unfortunately struggling to fund my mother’s services and funeral.  For those who graciously donated to our cause, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart.
