Help Support My Mom During Her Second Brain Surgery

If you know my mom, you know her strength, her kindness, and her ability to keep going no matter what life throws at her. In 2013, she was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, a rare and extremely painful nerve condition often called “the suicide disease” because of how intense and relentless the pain can be. It affects the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from the face to the brain, and can cause sudden, electric shock–like pain from even the lightest touch or movement.

That same year, she underwent microvascular decompression — a brain surgery that involves opening a small section of the skull to move blood vessels away from the trigeminal nerve and placing a cushion (in her case, Teflon) to relieve the pressure.

Over time, the Teflon has shifted, and her symptoms have returned. She now faces her second microvascular decompression surgery on September 26th to remove and replace the material in hopes of giving her relief again.

While she recovers, she will be unable to work for at least two months. This fundraiser will help cover her medical bills and everyday expenses so she can focus fully on healing.
