My mom suffered a medical accident in July causing mom to have lack of oxygen for a longer period of time, and since then, our family has been navigating a challenging and uncertain journey.

Mom was flown down to St. Cloud hospital and was in the ICU for about 3 weeks where she had to undergo 2 surgeries to switch her from home dialysis to doing dialysis in the clinic again and another to put a trach in so her vocal cords wouldn't be damaged. She then was able to be transferred out of St. Cloud to Fargo, ND for trach care and letting her body heal. She was moved to New Hope, MN in September/October and is currently in New Hope, MN where they specialize in trachs while her brain heals.

Each move has brought new challenges, and we are doing our best to support her every step of the way. We pray we see improvements each day even if it is very little.

My father spends every Wednesday and every weekend by her side, traveling long distances and staying in hotels so he can be with her. The costs of travel, hotels, and her ongoing care have added up quickly, and we are now paying out of pocket for her medical expenses and her stay at the facility. The emotional and financial strain has been overwhelming, but we are determined to do everything we can for her recovery.
