In June, my mom had a hysterectomy, which was supposed to help her feel better from ongoing complications. But just a few weeks later, it turned into a nightmare.

One afternoon in July, I came home from babysitting to find my mom bleeding out. My neighbors rushed to help while I called 911. There was blood everywhere, on her car, her clothes, even the street.

She had suffered a severe hemorrhage from a post-surgery complication. Watching her lose consciousness in the ER and her eyes

rolling back is something I’ll never forget. She was given a unit of blood and after six hours of trying to stop the bleeding, she was rushed into emergency surgery at midnight.

It was the scariest night of my life. Both of us thought she wasn’t going to make it. Thankfully, she pulled through and has been recovering, but the medical bills are overwhelming with multiple hospital, surgeon, and ER charges all piling up.

To make things harder, my mom recently moved to Florida after a divorce. And just today, she was attacked by a dog while walking my dog and had to be taken to the ER again, adding another expense to an already heavy year.

My mom is the strongest person I know and never asks for help, but she’s been through so much. I just want to lift some of this burden off her shoulders.
