My 89-year-old mom has always been a source of strength and unconditional love in my life. I've cared for her as diligently and respectfully as I can for many decades completely 100% by myself with no familial assistance or respite so I could catch a break. Now she needs me more than ever. Recently, she has faced a series of health challenges that have required extended hospital stays, rehabilitation at a skilled nursing facility, and ongoing home health care. The costs for her care have quickly become overwhelming, and as her sole caregiver, I am doing everything I can to ensure she receives the best support possible.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to cover hospital and rehabilitation bills, as well as the high cost of home healthcare. This includes hiring home healthcare aides for long-term care, purchasing handicap equipment, and providing essential personal care and hygiene supplies such as bathing wipes, diapers, disposable bed pads, and incontinence products that insurance does not cover. As my mom's needs change, the funds will also help pay for part-time, full-time, or 24-hour care. Because I am unable to work while caring for her around the clock, your support will also help with daily living expenses like utility bills, food, clothing, and other essentials.
Those of you who have known me for any length of time know that I have always been willing to put my own life on hold to help others in need, asking for nothing in return but a smile. They say the energy you put out into the world will always come back to you. I am praying this is true. I have never felt so down and out as I do right now, but my goal is to continue loving and caring for my mom to the best of my ability without having to worry so much about the financial burden of her long-term care. Any support you can offer, big or small, will mean the world to us and help us through this difficult time.
