Support for Mom's Care After Diabetic Emergency

My mom is diabetic and recently had a VNS device procedure at Intermountain Health to relocate the device from her chest area to her neck/head region. Before the procedure, she was instructed to stop taking her medications three days prior and to have only liquids for about 48 hours. During that period her blood sugar dropped, she began having seizures, and soon after she experienced a severe diabetic emergency that our family was told was nearly a diabetic coma. Since waking up, she has lost most of her memory and needs constant supervision. She does not remember her four children, her brother, or many friends. She recognizes her mother and remembers a few songs from childhood. She also struggles to form full sentences and does not consistently recognize everyday safety risks (like knives, fire, or traffic). Because she is diabetic and cognitively impaired, she cannot reliably choose safe foods or manage her blood sugar without help.

Our grandmother is willing to stop working to provide in-home care, but we need financial support to cover basic expenses and caregiving needs while we navigate this new reality and keep my mom safe. Any donation, share, or prayer means a lot. Thank you for helping our family keep my mom safe while we fight to get her the care she needs.
