Help support Mom's Cancer Journey

My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer she also carry’s the BRCA2 gene mutation, as she starts her journey with many upcoming doctors appointments and traveling my sister, brother and family are looking to get donations to help pay for the expenses she’s about to have. She’s a mother of 3 grown children and a grandmother of 7 who love her so much. She’s only 54 years old and a whole life ahead of her. Any amount you can help with would be greatly appreciated. We thank everyone who can support our family and especially our mother through this journey she’s starting.

7/9/24 - todays the day mom is in having 3 surgeries , removing her ovaries and fallopian tubes, both breast and reconstruction surgery. 6-8 hour procedure with a minimum of 8 week recovery before she can even lift certain things. We appreciate your support and prayers as we continue to pray for our mom.

7/1/24 update: she’s scheduled for her double mastectomy and removal of her ovaries the 9th of July. 6-8 minimum recovery if all goes well with physical therapy to follow and many more doctors appointments to Vermont.

6/18/24 updates: we spent the day in Vermont today. Mom Tammy Taylor met with three surgeons. They will all be working together to make a plan to do all three procedures on the same day. Possibly needing to stay in the hospital for 1-3 days. The healing time will be all at once vs 3 different times. By doing the 3 procedures (removing both breasts and her ovaries.) This will lessen her chances of the cancer coming back by 80%. They can't say 100% because of the braca2 gene. They are thinking recovery can take up to 6 weeks minimum.

The Drs. All agreed that surgery is the best plan especially since Mom carries that braca2 gene. They consider her cancer "invasive". Which means it could travel to other areas. They will be using a radio active dye while in surgery to see where the radiation travels and if it settles removing that area as well.. This doesn't mean her cancer traveled. It's a precautionary measure in hopes to prevent it from going anywhere else and help determine her treatments after surgery.

We should have a confirmed surgery date within a week or so. She has 3 teams that will be in the operating room that have to make sure they are aligned on the plan and process as well as what date is operable for them all at once.
