Support for Edith’s funeral

Hello everyone, many of you know my mom has been battling stage 4 lung cancer since May 2021. In November of 2024 we received the news that she was in remission, we were over the moon. Fast forward to March 2025, she had a fall. In prior years she had gotten corrective ear surgery in which they placed a fluroplastic piston in her ear. After the fall, we noticed she developed hearing loss and what we assumed was bells palsy. We took her to the ER and they did MRI’s without contrast and did not find anything suspicious. Two weeks later, she was going to have corrective ear surgery again but in her pre-op labs they realized her sodium was way too low and told us to go to the ER. Once we were there, her oncologist noticed more difficulty swallowing and her “bells palsy” getting worse which prompted him to do an MRI with contrast. The findings were devastating. She developed leptomeningeal disease in the brain. Leptomeningeal is a late complication of cancer which affects the spinal fluid as well as cranial nerves. After they found this out, she started declining health wise. She lost her hearing, she can no longer talk, lost ability to walk. She had to have a feeding tube placed so we can feed her since she can no longer swallow. Three days after discharge, she was in the ER again for pneumonia and a blood infection. Doctors have told me to put her on hospice because the prognosis is so poor. I stopped working and have become her full time caregiver on top of taking care of my kids. This gofundme is to help with basic necessities, medical bills, as well as any treatment my mom may be able to receive. We have taken her to UTSW in Dallas in hope to hear any good news but that was not the case. We appreciate all prayers, donations, and even checking in on us. The last thing I wanted was to make this page but many of you are asking in which ways you could help. Once again, thank you all for your support and keep my mom, family and I in your prayers.

Update: My mom made a turn for the worse and is expected to pass soon, this money will now be used for proper funeral arrangements.
