Support for Mom through Breast Cancer
Donation protected
My mom, a talented artist and loving mom of two, was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2018. She had a partial mastectomy on August 29th 2018, and has had to do several rounds of radiation so far. Since beginning her treatment, she's continued to work her rigorous cleaning job against her doctor's wishes, through the physical pain, and the financial strain has been severe. She takes the bus to the other side of town (she does not own a car) to make it to her appointments, and often doesn't have enough cash for bus fare let alone food these days.
Those who know my mom would vouch for her being the most loyal of friends, an incredibly hard-working and resilient woman, and certainly not one who would ever expect any handouts. I, a university student, am not financially capable of helping her through this crisis on a wider scale, and we live thousands of miles apart to make matters worse. She needs not only words of support, but funds to allow her to make it to all of her cancer treatments and to rest/not worry about losing the roof over her head during this process. This is supposed to be a time for healing, not missing life saving treatments because you are in a tight financial position.
I am requesting funds as soon as possible to help support her through this. Since her diagnosis, she’s gone through the treatments previously mentioned, and she will likely have to begin undergoing chemotherapy treatments and possibly additional surgery at University Medical Center New Orleans. This diagnosis has been devastating for our little family and I want her to focus on her well-being in a stable environment. However, that's going to be even more difficult for her now with these oncoming treatments and how they affect the body. She'll continue working obviously, but we don't know how badly chemo is going to interfere with that yet. Based on conversations with doc: it's going to be even more challenging going forward and therefore harder to work often while treatment is occurring.
Any small contribution would go long way. My mom has survived every possible obstacle in this life (believe me), and I can't let her go through with this thinking that she's alone. Please keep her in your thoughts, send her your love, and join us in telling this cancer to fuck off.
Thank you sincerely.
