Yesterday, our dear friend Molly Hunt experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Her husband, Matt Hunt, lost his life in a devastating diving accident.

Matt and Molly had moved to Hampstead, North Carolina, chasing a dream of building a life by the ocean. Matt had turned his passion for the water into a full-time business, diving for megalodon and shark teeth—something he truly loved and felt called to do. The ocean wasn’t just his work, it was his passion. Matt was adventurous, hardworking, and deeply excited about the life he and Molly were building together.

Those who knew Matt knew his heart. He was kind, generous, and the kind of person who showed up for others without hesitation. He had a way of making people feel welcome, supported, and valued, and his loss is being felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Matt leaves behind his loving wife Molly and his 14-year-old stepdaughter Olivia, who loved him dearly. To Olivia, Matt wasn’t just a stepdad — he was a steady presence, a protector, and someone who cared deeply about her future.

In the midst of overwhelming grief, Molly and Olivia are now facing the emotional and financial burdens that come with such a sudden and heartbreaking loss. This fundraiser has been created to help support them during this incredibly difficult time, including funeral expenses, immediate living needs, and giving Molly the space and time she needs to grieve and care for Olivia.
