Mitchell “Mitch” Gates was the kind of man people counted on without ever having to ask. At just 38, he lived with a depth of loyalty and generosity that many never reach in a lifetime. He showed up—for his family, for his friends, for his community—quietly, consistently, and without hesitation. He didn’t do things for recognition; he did them because that’s who he was. Mitch was a devoted husband to Cora and a loving father to ReaLynn and Brycin. He was the regional facilities director for the YMCA and a constant volunteer, coach, and board member with the Cedar Valley Youth Sports Association. He made an impact on countless kids and encouraged everyone he knew to get involved.

His sudden passing has left a hole in our hearts and in the lives of those who loved him. As his brother, I am reaching out to our community for support.
