Support for Missy Fisher-Culver and family

Hi!

My name is Suzie Worrell. I've been a friend of Missy's for several years. Actually, her grandfather and my Dad worked on the railroad together. We have seen each other through a lot. and I hope to raise some money to help her and her family during this difficult time.

We know many have struggled the last 3 yrs. Missy it seems more than most. She has struggled for many years with autoimmune disease and other things that have just made her life hard. 2 years ago Missy had Covid and was hospitalized. During that time and due to inflammation in her body she had to have emergency surgery to fix a hidden hernia that became entangled. She almost lost her life then. This year started with the Flu, followed by strep throat and Covid again! (her 3rd time). Because she missed so much time at work she was let go. She quickly found another great job which allowed her to work up until this point.

Due to the previous emergency surgery she has two large hernias that must be repaired and NO doctor in Akron would even touch it, so she was send to Cleveland Clinic main campus to see a world renown Doctor. Her first Surgery will take place on September 8th. She has multiple surgeries over the next 1-3 years. Missy and Jim were advised to apply for her to get Disability. This is a long process and can take up to 18 months to just get a hearing. And, she's unable to work at all now.

Jim and Missy are hard working people and have always worked! Jim works for the City of Akron and Missy worked in the past running her own daycare and then moved on to office jobs - Her part time employment has always been necessary to make ends meet. Now they are faced with the lack of her income, increased medical debt, medications, etc...

Many friends and family members have asked how they can help during this difficult time. Of course, any support - big or small matters and is deeply appreciated. Prayers of course are needed for her surgery and we will continue to update here.

Let's wrap our friend in support and love during this time...it's a situation I've watched many people struggle through. It's a fact that one medical crisis can wipe a family out, financially. And, we know the emotional stress that comes with being sick and worrying about how to pay your bills. Your support is greatly appreciated.
