My sister Missy (Mary Ellen) is one of the most selfless, thoughtful, and loving people I know. She has devoted her career to helping others. Her kindness and generosity have touched so many lives, and now she needs our support more than ever.

On December 2, 2025, Missy experienced a serious fall down the stairs in her home, injuring both her chest and her head. Struggling to breathe, she went to the emergency room, where X-rays revealed multiple fractured ribs. Although she had also hit her head, a head scan was not performed at that time.

It wasn’t until three weeks later that Missy began experiencing continuous headaches and started losing her balance, falling several times. She went to Boston Medical Center, where a CT scan revealed a significant brain bleed. She was told she needed an emergency craniotomy, a surgery that carried serious risks, including paralysis, blindness, or even death.

Missy underwent a surgery the next morning and spent eight days in the hospital, including 5 days the ICU. After surgery, she required rehabilitation, including physical and occupational therapy, as part of her recovery.

She now needs ongoing neurological care and repeat CT scans. As a 1099 contractor, she has lost income and cannot yet return to full-time work, and her insurance covers only a small portion of her medical costs. To make things even more stressful, her doctors are also monitoring a second brain bleed on the opposite side of her head. This has been a life-changing, traumatic experience with a long recovery ahead.
