We never imagined we would be writing something like this, but our family is facing a frightening and unexpected medical situation, and we are reaching out for support during the hardest moment of our lives. Two weeks ago, Miss Capri suddenly began swelling out of nowhere. At first, we hoped it was something minor, but as days passed, the swelling worsened and answers remained out of reach. Watching our baby’s body change without knowing why has been absolutely terrifying. After multiple appointments and extensive blood work, we were told that she is losing protein but unsure why or where which was the cause of her swelling. Because of how serious this is, we were sent to Golisano Children’s Hospital so doctors can determine the cause and begin the right treatment. Our daughter is undergoing constant monitoring, lab work, imaging, IV treatments, procedures and evaluations by specialists. As parents, there is nothing more helpless than watching your child go through tests and procedures while you wait and pray for answers. Every day brings uncertainty, fear, and hope all at once. Right now, the focus is on finding the cause of her protein loss, stabilizing her anemia, and making sure she receives the best care possible. This journey has already included hospital stay already one week, and round-the-clock care — and we know there is more ahead. Along with the emotional toll, the financial burden is growing quickly…. the stress becomes overwhelming. We are starting this to help relieve some of the financial pressure so we can focus entirely on what matters most — our daughter’s health.
