Mike Groves, known to many as Mike.G, was a devoted husband, loving father of four, and a passionate musician in the Phoenix community. Born July 24th, 1985, Mike spent years as the front man for local bands like 69sins and Black Metal Box, earning a reputation as one of the best hardcore vocalists in the area. His life took a heartbreaking turn when he was diagnosed with advanced oral cancer, which eventually took his ability to speak and perform. Despite undergoing major surgeries, including the removal of a large portion of his tongue and a tracheostomy, Mike never lost his spirit or his love for his family.
Mike passed away on March 11th, 2026, after a courageous battle with stage IVC cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Billie Jo, and their four children: Parker (11), Brooklyn (10), Miles (8), and Angelica (5), who also faces the challenges of Down syndrome and heart disease. Throughout his illness, Mike was unable to work, and Billie Jo became his full-time caregiver, managing the household and caring for the kids with little outside support. The family now faces significant financial hardship, with bills piling up and no life insurance to help them through this difficult time.
Even as his illness progressed, Mike found ways to express his love for his family. Using AI technology and recordings of his own voice, he created new music from his bed, leaving behind songs for Billie Jo and the kids to remember him by. These recordings are a testament to his creativity and devotion, offering comfort and memories for years to come.
Your support will help Billie Jo cover child care, household expenses, and provide for the children's needs as they adjust to life without Mike. As a thank you, everyone who donates will receive a digital copy of Mike's solo album once it is mastered and completed. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference for this family as they begin to heal and rebuild. Thank you for honoring Mike's memory and helping his loved ones find hope in the midst of loss.
