Support Mike Douskey & his cherished family

If you have the pleasure to know Mike Douskey you are one of the lucky ones. Mike has always been a helping friend; the “one you can count on”. He always has a welcoming smile or that mischievous smile when you know he is up to something, and you should run! He is someone that will have your back through the worst of times and a friend who you can sit and laugh with for hours upon hours. Mike is also a great storyteller, and each of us have enjoyed being entertained by him. He has made the most cherished and wonderful memories with all of us. Mike truly is a best friend to everyone.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike in the ‘famous’ summer of ’89. Jill and I have been childhood friends and were just about to enter high school. Bubber introduced Jill to this very tall teenager, who liked cars and drove them very, very fast. It didn’t take long for these two to become inseparable. I wonder if they knew they had met their soul mate and one true love. When you spent time with them you knew they were destined to be together; Highschool sweethearts that would go on to create an amazing life together. To get married and to have three beautiful children: Connor, Nathan, and Madison. He is the proudest husband and father and loves them each so deeply. They have been blessed beyond measure.

Mike has always been so fiercely protective of Jill. He has so much admiration and love for her. He stood by her side in 2017, when Jill fought her own battle with cancer. He was so proud of his wife and how hard she fought to be well. He never wavered and was her constant rock. Mike always texted me every time she finished a Chemo treatment with a countdown with how many she had left. I waited impatiently for those texts and his pictures of her sleeping. I knew he was the proudest husband around, and at the same time I was so proud of him for being that husband and protector. That’s why writing this is so heartbreaking.

Everyone that knows Mike, they know he is a fighter and a pillar of strength. One tough Polack if you ask me! It is with great sadness to report that in February of 2022 he was dealt the worst card in life. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. The moment he found out he prepared for a battle. He approached this fight with humor, compassion, appreciation for those he loves, and patience. He fought through Chemo treatments, radiation, surgeries, and sickness. There were days I couldn’t believe what he was going through. He has been a true inspiration. Once again, he has left me feeling so very proud of him. Unfortunately, we recently learned that although Mike fought the best fight possible, there is nothing more that can be done for him.

To honor this beautiful soul & family, let’s help them! With your help we can help Mike spend each day with his loving wife and beloved children, without worry. Let’s bring Mike some peace, knowing that all of you are helping with those he cherishes the most. They are as I call them, “Douskey Strong”. The love and commitment this family has for one another is something that everyone should strive to have. If you can be anything, be like the Douskey’s.

Special Note:

As you can imagine, the family greatly appreciates your supportive thoughts and well-wishes but they want to remain focused on their time with each other. To ensure that their phones don’t get bombarded we ask that you refrain from reaching out to them directly and contact Brenda McGuire with any questions or concerns.
