Mike, Audra, and their son Carmine are facing something no young family should ever have to endure; Mike was recently diagnosed with a rare stage 4 colon cancer.
Mike and Audra’s story began over 13 years ago as roommates, growing into a love that has carried them through many seasons of life. They’ve built a home filled with laughter, generosity, and open doors; hosting friends, family, celebrations, and even their own wedding. Through it all, they have been each other’s constant; best friends, partners, and now, devoted parents to precious little Carm who they welcomed just one year ago.
Mike is the kind of person who shows up for everyone. He’s endlessly kind and always willing to lend a hand. Whether sharing his love of rare tropical fruit, playing disc golf with friends, whipping up his famous smash burgers and pizza for family, or helping someone build or fix something, Mike gives from the heart. Now, it’s time to give him that same love in return.
Mike began his treatment on April 20th. Audra is caring for both Mike and Carm while working. Although they have health insurance, fighting cancer has many hidden costs. Audra will be taking some unpaid leave and they are likely to seek a second opinion at an out-of-state cancer center. They will be paying out of pocket for complementary care and things they need to ensure Mike’s comfort and make life easier.
Mike and Audra are DIY'ers who don’t usually ask for help, but today they need their community.
If you are able to give, any amount will make a difference. If you’re not in a position to donate, your love, support, and even offers of help whether through meals, housework, or special skills mean more than words can express.
We believe in Mike and that, together, we can help carry them through this.
