Support for Mike and Izzy Nickerson Power
Donation protected
It takes a village to raise a child and in that vein we ask for your continued support for Mike and Isadora ( Izzy) as they mourn the loss of their wife and mother Beth Raggi. Beth passed away on August 12th after a 4 year and one hell of a fight against cervical cancer at the age of 34. Beth truly was one of the best. Always living life to the fullest and putting others before herself constantly. She lived for her family and worked tirelessly to ensure that whatever she touched was left better than she found it.
Equally as strong as their love for each other, Mike and Beth built a life and a foundation for their daughter to grow up in a house filled with love, laughter and childish curiosity. Unfortunately that foundation was built on the incomes of a two parent working household, with Mike being a long time teacher in the Boston Public School system and Beth being a collegiate professor at Lesley University as well as business owner of a private counseling practice located in the South Shore of MA.
Unfortunately their version of the American dream was put on pause shortly after celebrating the birth of Isadora when Beth was diagnosed with Cancer. This tragic timing of news was only made worse due to the fact the new parents had been in the process of applying for private life insurance since it had not been provided by their current employers. With Beth's cancer diagnosis, her application was ultimately denied. It is in this regard that we again ask for help from the village.
The amount of support received over the last 4 years while Beth heroically fought this horrible disease has been truly astounding and the family is forever grateful. However it has become increasingly clear that the necessary level of support from family and friends will not be sustainable going forward. As funds begin to run low, Mike will be forced to redesign a household plan so he can continue to provide the upbringing and care that Beth and he had wished for their daughter. We cannot replace what Beth brought to the table, but it is with hope and the help of the village that maybe we can remove a small amount of financial burden while Mike and Izzy press forward in her honor.
Any donations received will be applied to current monthly living expenses and any generosity beyond that will be placed in a 529 savings plan for Izzy's education.
