My name is Molly Morningstar, and I am running this fundraiser on behalf of a dear friend and teaching colleague, Michelle "Mitch" Wennerstrom, and her family.

Recently, Mitch began experiencing a series of physical symptoms that rapidly progressed to emergency status, landing her in the ER at our local hospital. Upon completion of multiple tests, it was determined that she needed to be airlifted to Colorado Springs, and has since been in the ICU. She has a preliminary diagnosis of Atypical HUS, which sends blood clots to vital organs. The treatment is very rare and expensive, and this will most likely be a lifelong condition. Right now, her kidneys are failing, and the medical team's biggest hurdle is getting them into remission, and finding the treatment. The doctors currently believe she will not be able to return to work.
