Dear family and friends, reaching out for help is never easy, but life‘s challenges sometimes leaves us with no other choice. 

  Our family is reaching out for support for our amazing sister, Michele Cruice Stuetz (aka Mickie) during a very difficult time. On August 1, 2025 Mickie woke up unable to move from her waist down and she was taken to the hospital in Maryland where she lives. They performed various tests, including multiple MRIs, where they discovered blood on her lower spine. After a week there she was medevaced to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, where they performed spinal surgery to remove as much of the blood as possible. Although the surgery went as planned without issues, Mickie spent a week in ICU still unable to move her legs. On August 19, 2025 she was transferred to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, where she underwent intense physical therapy and occupational therapy. After five weeks Mickie was sent home to Maryland on September 22, 2025.

  This has been hard on the family, both emotionally and financially with expenses growing every day. That is why we are asking for your support to help offset these expenses and manage the sudden loss of income.

  Mickie is learning how to navigate into a new phase of life with the use of a power wheelchair and other various assistive devices. The medical expenses and costs not covered by insurance are mounting. In addition, her home will require renovations to accommodate her new mobility level and equipment needs. Not all of the medical equipment she needs is covered by insurance and any car modifications are out of pocket as well. 

  Your generous donation will go towards daily expenses due to loss of income, medical and mobility equipment, ongoing therapies and doctor visits, home care help, an accessible van for transportation, and home renovations, such as an accessible bathroom and ramps.

  Mickie’s unshakable faith and positive attitude has helped her to adapt to her current abilities and maximize each of her therapy sessions. She is a true inspiration to all of us!
