Michael Wright, 50, died unexpectedly at home on March 27, 2026. Born at the Air Force Academy Hospital in Colorado, Michael was the son of Bill Lee and Lynn Jeanette Wright (now Miller, née Ressel). He graduated from Independence High School in Glendale, Arizona, Class of 1993, and joined the United States Air Force in 1995. Michael served until his retirement in 2013 as a proud Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) airman, stationed at Edwards AFB, California, Luke AFB, Arizona, Fairchild AFB, Washington, and Sheppard AFB, Texas. He also deployed to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan, and Honduras. During his service, Michael completed two Associates of Applied Science degrees and his Bachelor of Science, and after retirement, he earned his Master of Science.
Inspired by his uncles, Michael was an avid outdoorsman who loved sharing his passion with family and young people in his community. His favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, foraging, off-roading, ranching, snowboarding, dirt biking, mountain biking, and skateboarding. Michael was known for his high standards and for mentoring young men, both during his Air Force career and after retirement. He often provided guidance, a place to stay, and opportunities to learn life skills and trades. Above all, Michael loved his family and strove to be the best father and husband he could be. He is survived by Mahleenee Mae, the mother of his daughters, Breanna Lynn (Steven), Elise Maitanee, and Genevieve Mahnee, as well as his parents, siblings, and extended family.
With Michael's sudden passing, his children and family are facing the challenge of moving forward without him. Funds raised will help support his children with short-term expenses, education, and daily needs as they adjust to life without their father. We appreciate all the heartfelt love and affection from Michael's friends and coworkers in this trying time. His children will benefit from your generosity and support.
