It is with an aching heart that I share the passing of our dear friend Michael Larrain. Michael was so much more than Cotati’s beloved flower vendor—he was a poet, novelist, TV and film star, and a guiding light to all who knew him. For over four decades, Michael’s flower stand was a landmark in our community, a place where people of all ages would stop for a chat, a hug, and a smile. His sign, “Flowers Not To Reason Why,” became a symbol of kindness and connection for countless families.

Michael’s life was rich with creativity, humor, and compassion. As Ace High, Private Eye, he brought laughter and insight to his readers, and his love for his daughter Wilder, the “Queen of Quietude,” and his companion Bonnie Jean, was evident to all. Michael’s journey took him from the bustle of Los Angeles to the heart of Cotati, where he touched lives every day with his warmth and generosity.

Now, as we mourn his loss, we have an opportunity to give back to the family he cherished. This fundraiser is to help Bonnie and Wilder with immediate funeral and living expenses, and to honor Michael’s wish of setting up a college fund for Wilder—a dream he held close but could not fully achieve.
