Support for mental health exhibition "UnCovering"

Donation protected
I’d like to request your support for my upcoming solo show “Un/Covering” at The Pompano Beach Cultural Center Art Gallery, on view January 8, 2021 - April 1, 2021.

This exhibition highlights the topic of mental health, from the perspective of an artist, also demonstrating the impact of arts in the healing process. This show is coming at a vital moment for me personally, emerging from a recent relapse.

Due to COVID-19, one of the sponsors for the exhibition is no longer able to support it. This Miami-Dade based institution was to acquire work of mine-- a series of screen prints on wallpaper, as well as host a series of public programs during Mental Health Awareness Month. This income was to be used toward the costs of my show. Because of the shut-down in March everything was cancelled including the acquisition of my artwork.

Additionally, also because of COVID-19 the printshop facility I use to expose my screens for screen printing are closed for public access. The only way I am able to expose my screens is through a drop-off service that charges $30 per screen. Under normal pre-Covid circumstances, I was able to rent time at the facility for $15/ hour and expose several screens at once in about 4 hours. Screen Printing will be the central medium for this show.

I’m thankful for the support already received to develop this exhibition. The City of Pompano Beach has awarded an Artist-in-Residence, where I will have a free studio space at the Bailey Contemporary Arts Center for three months before the show opens from October-December. In addition, I’ve been selected to receive a CIP matching grant from the Broward Cultural Affairs. I’ve also received support by Nomad Art Projects.

Your support will help supplement the income lost from the sponsor who was unable to commit. Donations over $225 can select a print of their choice from the images below (shipping in the U.S. only). Please contact me by using the contact button below to let me know which print you'd like, and your mailing address.
