My boyfriend and I were 28 weeks pregnant when we lost our baby unexpectedly. Our son wrapped the umbilical cord around his neck, causing him to lose his heartbeat. We had been preparing for his arrival in April, but everything changed so suddenly. I had to leave work immediately, and my employer has been slow to process my disability after learning about our loss. My boyfriend had just started a new job, and although his supervisor told him to take his time for bereavement, he was terminated the very next day. Our son's passing has left us with unexpected costs and we're struggling to keep our heads above water.
