Melissa has had a long and perilous road with illness, beginning a handful of years ago with a triple diagnosis of cervical cancer, stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis that ultimately lead to major surgery, a tired body and a vulnerable immune system. Those initial diagnosis’s sparked comorbitities that have taken a lot of time and money to fully understand and begin treating, and the process continues.

In August 2021, Melissa’s regular cancer screening check-ups and labs came back with some red flags, and that began a long process of examinations, diagnostic procedures and doctor visits. Her doctors in Hungary have provided some answers, including an autoimmune disease diagnosis, but every appointment, MRI, blood test, bone scan, medication etc has had to be paid for out of pocket and it’s been a colossal weight in addition to navigating illness.

As of now, we are so grateful to learn that she is still cancer free and getting some support from doctors in Hungary. It’s a long path ahead with a variety of treatments and longterm close observation, all of which comes at astronomical costs because Melissa doesn’t qualify for private insurance coverage due to her pre existing conditions. On top of all this, there is inevitably another surgery on the horizon for her, so we truly can’t thank you enough for your support and kindness.
