Support Melissa Olive’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Our daughter, sister, aunt, and friend Melissa Olive has recently been diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis. This is a group of conditions that occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy brain cells. In Melissa's case this illness came on very quickly and her condition depleted rapidly. Currently Melissa is in ICU here in Edmonton and hooked up to both breathing and feeding tubes to keep her stable. Doctors are still unable to determine the cause of this illness in order to properly treat her.
Her family is by her side 24/7 which is taking a toll on each of them mentally, physically and now financially. While her immediate family is now off work to remain by Melissa's side, we are looking for your support to help her family with all these added and unexpected expenses such as; parking, food, flight expenses, child care, and of course Melissa' beloved Marlo with food and care for him. Doctors are saying that Melissa will require extensive physical therapy resulting in her being off work for at least a year adding additional costs for her and her family.
This is not an easy feat and Melissa has a very long road to recovery ahead of her and any support for her and her family would be appreciated.
Here is a link to learn more about Autoimmune Encephalitis and they have also created a Netflix movie called "Brain on Fire" which is a similar representation of what Melissa has/is going through.
We thank all of you for your support and donations.
