Support for Melissa and Jason

My name is Trent Coleman and I have known Melissa for over 5 years and Jason for over 10 years. My wife, Chelsi and I hold them very dear to our hearts. This has been a very difficult year for Melissa as she has courageously been battling cancer. She has endured so many tests, doctors appointments, and hospital stays since she was first diagnosed this past December. She was able to complete five months of chemotherapy last month and then received a double mastectomy a few weeks ago for triple negative inflammatory breast cancer. This is an extremely aggressive cancer that will have her on alert for the rest of her life. By the grace of God, her body has responded miraculously to all treatments thus far. However, she still has many weeks of radiation that will begin soon and then will still face another long surgery for reconstruction in about 6 months. This journey has been long and has left both Melissa and Jason with a financial strain. Melissa has been out of work since January and her short term disability has ended. The medical bills have been piling up and continue to roll in. Most recently, her leave of absence exceeded 6 months forcing her to switch to COBRA insurance through her employer. If you have ever experienced COBRA insurance coverage, then you know the out-of-pocket costs are outrageous. To make the situation even more grueling, Jason’s mother passed away in her home on the same night as Melissa’s surgery. Unfortunately, her body was not found until 3 days later. This was a very unexpected death that has left Jason, Melissa, and their whole family devastated. The financial strain of both situations is just too much for them to carry alone. I’m reaching out to all my friends and family as well as theirs to donate any amount that you see fit to help alleviate the burdens they have faced and will continue to face for months to come.
