My fellow barista and dear friend, Meghan Durgin, is going through an unimaginable time. Both of her parents fell ill suddenly and, heartbreakingly, passed away just 14 days apart. Meghan’s father was disabled, and her mother was not only a full-time nurse but also his devoted caregiver. Despite their best efforts, they weren’t as prepared as they would have liked for end of life, and now Meghan is left facing substantial medical bills and the overwhelming responsibility of settling their affairs.
Throughout this ordeal, Meghan has shown incredible strength. She’s been partially working, but most of her days and nights have been spent in hospital rooms, moving between two hospitals for weeks. Meghan is not alone in her loss—she has two sisters who are also grieving and supporting each other as they navigate this difficult time. Now, she faces the daunting task of cleaning out her parents’ home and handling everything that comes with such a profound loss. More than anything, Meghan needs time to take a breath and grieve, without the added stress of financial uncertainty.
Meghan is only 28 and works as an hourly wage employee. She is a friend to everyone she meets and is truly one of the most selfless people I know. We are hoping to raise money to help her with medical bills, household expenses, and to give her the space she needs to heal. Any gift you can give is deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to help financially, please consider leaving a kind word for Meghan and reminding her that she has an entire village behind her.
