Hi! We're Kat and V, two wives in the Boston area trying to get through a medical and financial crisis. We need help with medical copays, bills, medical bills, and rent while we both seek treatment for chronic physical and mental health issues, and while we apply for jobs.
Day to day bills include:
-Electricity
-Gas for our car
-CC payments to reduce debt
-medication costs (we help each other out where we can, some meds are $1, some are $35)
-our phone bill
-cat food/litter/Solensia shot monthly
-food delivery- I can't be up long enough to cook, and V is not doing hot either plus taking care of me. Doordash isn't a necessity but between stress, appointments and overall energy levels/pain (V is also chronically ill) it is a big relief sometimes.
I live with chronic mental and physical illness in the forms of CPTSD, Schizoaffective disorder, and Myopathic Ehlers Danlos Syndrome with a bunch of comorbidities like POTS.
The past year has been a whirlwind. We (my wife and I) moved here from the west part of the state in late 2024. My job fell through, I was still figuring out my meds, and fell into a really dark space with how much stress we were under financially.
I got my dream job, which quickly turned out to be a nightmare, and was diagnosed with a few more chronic conditions to figure out and fight with insurance about. Physical Therapy for back injuries from the move, a lump under my arm, blood work, referrals, medications...the appointments started to grow.
The stress broke me- I was having weekly breakdowns over work, working 12+ hours a day, was too scared to take a break, etc. When the job ended, I was terrified.
Because I worked for a religious nonprofit, I am not eligible for Unemployment. Severance and my tiny savings are gone.
I started getting gradually sicker over the summer- a migraine, another sinus infection, but the symptoms were horrific. Extreme vertigo, falls, eye pain and swelling, slurred speech sometimes, weakness, couldn't hold my head up, blurry vision, severe back of skull pain, jerks when I moved, needing upright neck support, postural headaches, and more all at once.
I've been directing my medical care because EDS is tricky, and I have a rarer type, so I'm trying to figure things out. So far weve found a few things and run into a few snags, with more scans coming.
I have been looking for work, but realistically cannot hold down a new role in person at all and would have to be remote. I apply to jobs every week, the market is horrible and I haven't had more than 1 callback in 4 months.
I have multiple appointments in a week,- which means as deductibles have reset- copays, bills, medication costs alongside regular bills, gas, and rent. I do not have an income and need your help to stay safe, fed, under medical care, and housed until we can pinpoint the problem and take action.
thank you so much for reading, for donating, for sharing, for everything. there's so much going on, and I hope it gets easier for our household soon.
