I am a disabled man in my late 40s with a number of health issues. Among those issues is diabetes type 2, and in the process of changing medications, I had diabetic ketoacidosis shock and was hospitalized for about five days. After insurance, I found that I owe over a thousand dollars out of pocket. It may not sound like much for a lot of people, but it is for me, seeing as how I am on disability and do not get much per month, and I have other expenses that drain most of that.
