It’s crazy to think that 4 years ago, I did a “GoFundMe” for my dad diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but as of March 18, 2025, he’s lost his battle. The cancer returned for the worse, growing and spreading rapidly into his liver, both lungs, as well as his spine.
My dad had been fighting all these cancers starting with lymphoma back in 2015 and then diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019 (in which he outlived for about 5 more years) when doctors predicted he only had 3-6 months to live.
Unfortunately, my dad’s pancreatic cancer came back last year around the end of 2024. While they took him off chemotherapy, he was showing signs of the cancer affecting him, but we just didn’t know exactly at that point. He eventually ended up at the emergency room and got admitted into the hospital because his oxygen levels were going down significantly. After being in the hospital for almost a week, doctors said they couldn’t do anything more for him and sent him home. He was also participating in a research clinical study for only 3 weeks, but it was about 12 weeks prior that he hadn’t been on any type of chemo. After all test results came back, it showed the cancer had spread into his lungs, creating fluids that made it difficult for him to breathe and unable to walk. The doctor was able to drain all the fluid out, which was roughly about 1 1/2 liters. Again, doctors told us that the fluids would come back, and it eventually did. He was then discharged from the hospital because there wasn’t anything they could do for him anymore. From there on, the cancer started spreading rapidly, and he became unable to walk, talk, eat, etc. He was getting worse and worse, basically deteriorating while under hospice care at home.
Sad to say, but he has passed away surrounded by his family in prayer.
One thing I can say about my dad is that he was a very strong man that fought this difficult battle and never gave up until his very last breath. My dad was a very kind man, a loving husband, a father, an amazing grandpa, a true friend, and most importantly, a family man that was very supportive to us all.
Now as we grief during this difficult time, we do have to think about medical expenses and memorial services. Please know that anything you donate will be greatly appreciated or even sharing this post will mean a lot to us. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers.
God bless you all and thank you for your generosity.
