Support for Matthew Osher
Matthew Osher became sick with COVID-19
two weeks ago and ended up going to
immediate care when he became so ill he
couldn’t breath. The medical staff immediately had him taken by ambulance to CHI Bergman Lakeside Hospital where he was admitted to
the ICU. Mathews condition continued to
deteriorate. After 5 days they had to put
Matthew on a ventilator. Unfortunately the
ventilator was not able to help as much as was needed. The doctors decided that the only
chance they had to save Mathews’s life was to air flight him to Bergan Mercy 90 blocks
away where he could be hooked up to a ECMO machine. This machine essentially allows
doctors to bypass Matt’s lungs and
takes his blood and oxygenates and pumps
it outside of his body. This allows his lungs
extra time to heal. The staff said that if he had
not made it to their hospital that evening he
would not have made it. At this point he has
been on the ECMO machine for 6 days. On top of the Covid Matt has run into some other
complications that are forcing the ECMO to
work at its max capabilities to help him. The
doctors have told us this will be a long road of
waiting for his body to hopefully heal and be able to start do things on its own again.
Matt had just finished serving in the United
States Navy earlier this year and was waiting to start his new career. He had just leased an
apartment with his girlfriend in Omaha, Nebraska as well and was ready to start the next
chapter of his life.
Unfortunately since he had just started work at a new place he doesn’t have disability etc
that would have been be able to help cover his expenses.
Matt is such an amazing young man that is so
respected and loved my so many. Any funds
collected will be used to help cover Matthews bills until he is able to recover. His family is so thankful for each and everyone of your
prayers’ and messages of support. Anyway
that we you Can contribute to help with
some of the financial burden is greatly
appreciated.
