I am asking for the help of my friends and community for my mom and dad, Matthew and Dawn Johnson.

My parents are currently in Sitka Alaska sorting through the property and belongings of my deceased uncle, Aaron Johnson, who drowned last year. Aaron lived on a wood sailboat, and for the last year it has been sitting while my parents tried to form a plan for how to care for it and what needed to happen. They didn’t know that in that time a Mink had decided to move onto the boat, and cause further damage to the vessel.

They are currently trying to clean the boat in preparation to sell it. When they sell it, they hope to break even on debts Aaron had accrued with the marina his home was docked at, and various individuals.

This is an emotionally difficult thing my parents weren’t prepared for, and they of course underestimated the costs of working for a week in Sitka during tourist season without dad being able to receive an income from his job at home.

If you choose to donate, the money will help cover the unexpected hotel fees they hadn’t budget for, food costs that are exceeding what they expected, and cleaning materials they’re having to buy on the spot (much of what they packed from home wasn’t cutting it.) and of course, the Marina fees as the boat has not sold yet, and the cost of this is beyond their normal living expenses.
