With heavy hearts, we share that Matteo has passed away. This fundraiser now stands in his memory, helping to support his family and cover funeral expenses, while surrounding them with love from the Bethel community.
The Bethel High School community is coming together to support one of our own, Matteo, a senior and proud member of the Class of 2026. Matteo has shown incredible strength and courage while facing Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that affects children, teenagers, and young adults. As a school community, we want Matteo and his family to know they are not facing this moment alone.
Matteo was first diagnosed in July 2024 at just 15 years old, when cancer was discovered in his femur and lungs. He endured months of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery with remarkable resilience. In June 2025, Matteo received the hopeful news that he was cancer-free. Sadly, in November 2025, the cancer returned and has since spread aggressively throughout his body.
Throughout this time, Matteo has remained an important part of the Bethel High School community. This year, his classmates and teachers made sure his senior year included special moments — he was celebrated at the December Semi-Formal, friends and staff are signing his yearbook, and with the blessing of the Bethel Board of Education, our principal presented Matteo with his Bethel High School diploma. The SCOTTY Fund, a local nonprofit that supports families facing pediatric cancer, has also been helping Matteo’s family with daily financial needs.
We are creating this GoFundMe as a way for the Bethel community to stand beside Matteo and his family and show them how much they are loved. Matteo will always be a member of the Class of 2026, and we want him and his family to feel the strength and support of the entire Bethel community. Any support — whether through a donation or by sharing this page — helps us show Matteo that his school community is with him every step of the way.y
The funds raised will cover funeral expenses and provide financial support for the family during this difficult time. The direct beneficiary is Matteo’s sister, Najely. All donations will be deposited directly into the account created specifically for these purposes.
