Matthew Olivier, or Matty O as most knew him by, sadly moved on from our world on 7/14/25. Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Marine, and a best friend to many - he was a powerhouse of a human, and he will be greatly missed by all of us.
To help his family during this exceptionally difficult time, I am hoping to raise a little bit of money to help with the funeral services. If you can, please consider donating and sharing some words of support.
Much love,
Aaron
Obituary:
Matthew David Olivier, 48, a longtime resident of Manchester, NH, passed unexpectedly at his home on July 14, 2025. Known affectionately as Matt or Matty O, he was born and raised in Manchester, where he was cherished by many.
A proud graduate of Manchester West High School, Class of 1995, Matt furthered his education at Bridgeton Academy before enlisting in the United States Army as a combat medic. After his honorable discharge, he felt a continued call to serve and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Matt took great pride in his military service, following in the legacy of his father and grandfathers.
As a lifelong resident of Manchester, Matt was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, skiing in the White Mountains, and creating cherished memories with his extensive family, including close relationships with his aunts and cousins. His selfless devotion led him to purchase a family home to care for his mother and sisters following the passing of his father, David Allen Olivier.
Matt was employed as a security officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Lincoln Laboratories on Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA, where he built strong friendships and was regarded as a brother by his colleagues. Never one to settle for complacency, Matt was actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology through Southern New Hampshire University, discovering a newfound passion for learning while advancing his career goals.
With unmatched vibrant energy and spirit, Matt had a gift for conversation and celebrated life with friends, family, acquaintances, and even strangers. He made a profound impact on many lives and will be fondly cherished, terribly missed, and eternally remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
Matt, the patriarch of the family, is survived by his mother, Dorothy P. (Wallace) Olivier of Manchester, and his two sisters, Cheryl D. Olivier and her significant other, Jeffrey Fontaine, of Candia, NH, and Sarah W. Olivier of Manchester. He was the world’s greatest uncle to his nephew, Henry Fontaine, and niece, Emma Fontaine. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins and their children. Matt was preceded in death by his father, the late David A. Olivier, in 2014.
A graveside funeral service for Matt, with full military honors, will be held at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, 448 Donald Street, Bedford, NH, on a date to be determined. This will be followed by a celebration of life. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend.
