Support for Matt Grothe
On Wednesday, July 14, Matthew with two other close friends were in a serious car accident while driving to Colorado. Their vehicle nose dived off a 15 foot cliff and rolled multiple times. All three were seriously injured. It is a miracle they are still alive!!
Matthew had a compression fracture in his vertebrae, a broken shoulder, broken elbow and a deep gash that went to the brake in his elbow and a tricep laceration.
On Wednesday he underwent a 5 hour surgery on his back and spine. He received rods and screws to stabilize his spine and prevent any further injury.
On Thursday he had reconstructive surgery on his shoulder, and elbow. What originally was thought to be a 5 hour surgery turned into 10.5 hours because the CAT scan didn’t show how shattered and just how many shards of bone were in his shoulder.
Matthew is in a lot of pain but both surgeries went well. Because he is in so much pain they will have to stay in Colorado until he can manage as well as start physical therapy before going back to Minnesota.
Matthew was on his way to photograph a conference so all of his camera, laptop and gear were in the car that was totaled. The condition of his gear is unknown.
Matthew will also not be able to work for weeks maybe months.
We are also unsure of how much their insurance will cover for out of state hospital care.
Please pray for a quick and good recovery, if you feel led please donate to support Matt and Liv during this hard time. We are just so thankful that Matt and his friends are alive. Praise God for that miracle.
