Support for Matt and Liz’s NICU twins

On December 22nd, 2024 our lives very quickly changed overnight. My body decided it was time for us to meet our boys, much earlier than we expected. Luke and Reed were born 12 minutes apart Saturday night just shy of 33 weeks, and before we knew it they were being shipped off to Spokane Children’s Hospital in their own private jets. It has been the hardest 36 hours of our life. Coming home last night without them has completely broken out hearts.

The boys are in a hospital that is an hour and 45 minutes away from us. The hospital is working on getting us set up in some temporary housing when they can so we can be closer by to them. There are many other unforeseen expenses that we are just not prepared for. Matt and I would like to come home every couple of days to re group, both mentally and physically. Trying to heal postpartum in a hospital I did not give birth in, has been challenging to say the least. There are things coming up left and right that I’m going to be needing to be comfortable the best that I can be I’m trying to care for my boys from the NICU. Other things like meals three times a day, for both of us aren’t also not covered and they are very expensive in and around the hospital.

We are just asking for some financial support and it is very hard for us to do so. We just want take care of our boys the best that we can and remember that we need to take care of ourselves too.

It is unclear how long the boys are going to be in the hospital. We have yet to speak with a doctor but the nurses have been happy with how the boys have been doing. I think that they’re probably doing better than Matt and I are at this moment. Things can change and and they may have more needs as they continue to grow and be assessed at the hospital. I will update this page with any new thing that comes up to help keep our friends and family in any other supporters updated on their care and our needs as a family.
