Support for Matt and Emily Olney

Please help support in the fundraising for Matt and Emily Olney and their two children, Hannah and Noah.

April 23, 2021 Matthew and Emily  were married in a small ceremony on Crabtree Creek surrounded by family and friends in Lacomb, Oregon. Matt and Emily met 9 years ago and built a life together. They would spend their free time together outdoors and backpacking Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, and The Three Sisters Wilderness Area. They also enjoyed family trips to southern California to visit Matt's family as often as they could.

In January of 2021, Matt started showing signs of weight loss and many other unusual symptoms. On March 11, 2021, Matt was diagnosed with fibrolamellar carcinoma, a rare type of liver cancer. Fibrolamellar carcinoma is so uncommon that only 1 in every 5,000,000 people are diagnosed each year. Unfortunately for Matt and his family, his cancer was very aggressive.

Matt passed away April 28, 2021, at 27 years of age, due to complications from the side effects of the cancer. Emily and his mother, Lee Olney, were by his side.

Matt was a talented man. He knew by the 2nd grade that he wanted to be an architect. Matt achieved that goal after completing grad school in 2018. He joined Studio 3 Architecture in Salem, and thoroughly enjoyed the job, especially the team that he worked with.

Matt was fun, compassionate, and loving. He enjoyed family time with Hannah and Noah, drawing, playing, and raising pets together.

With Matt's unexpected passing, the donations from this GoFundMe account will go towards helping Emily pay past medical expenses, funeral costs, and immediate future needs.
