My name is Matt Karlson and I am starting this Go Fund Me campaign on behalf of my sister, Mary Dalton’s family, to help them cover unexpected medical expenses incurred as the result of a sudden and tragic medical episode.

On Sunday, May 17, Mary, her husband Mike and their granddaughter Elisa had just returned from a wonderful, relaxing 10-day vacation. While waiting to be picked up at the airport, Mary suffered from a medical emergency and was transported to a Twin Cities hospital where she was diagnosed with a significant hemorrhagic stroke in her brainstem. Due to the location and size of the stroke, there are no medical intervention options and the stroke is not survivable. Mary currently remains on life support in the ICU. Based off Mary’s wishes and her choice to be an organ donor, the family has made the decision to continue compassionate care for the time required to arrange for potential donor matches to be found. While we are all heartbroken and devastated by this tragic situation, we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from family, friends and co-workers.

At this time, we are asking for anyone that would like to support the family do so by donating to this fund. All funds raised will go directly to Mike to help cover medical costs and day-to-day needs as he navigates the uncertainty of coming days, weeks and months, while also raising Elisa.
