On November 2, my brother Marty and I, along with my boyfriend Anthony, were struck by an automobile while walking on a sidewalk in downtown Baltimore. All three of us were injured to varying degrees.

Marty sustained serious injuries, which include a broken left femur and fractured right ankle. He has just returned home after a 10 day hospital stay and 2 major surgeries with plates, screws and rods inserted into his legs. He will have another minor outpatient surgery in a few weeks, plus lots of physical therapy sessions.

It will be a long, tough recovery for him, but he is already showing how determined he is to get back to being healthy. Luckily, my injuries weren't as bad, just some severe bruising on my backside and tailbone.

Martin will be out of work for around 12 weeks. Additionally, he has some immediate needs like home care supplies, new furniture, etc. to help accommodate him while back home. Additionally, Both of us still have rent and utilities to cover.
