Marti Velasco is not just a dedicated lieutenant at the Fresno Sheriff’s Office—he’s also a cherished friend and colleague. We first met when we started working together, and over the years, I’ve seen firsthand the commitment and kindness Marti brings to his work and to those around him. Recently, Marti faced an unexpected and serious medical emergency. He was rushed to the hospital, and the situation was so critical that he had to be flown to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Since then, Marti has undergone several procedures as doctors work tirelessly to help him recover. The road ahead is still uncertain, and his medical team expects him to remain in the hospital for at least another month.

Throughout this ordeal, Marti’s life partner Amanda and his family have been by his side as much as possible. However, the distance between home and the hospital, along with mounting medical bills and travel expenses, has placed a significant financial strain on them. They are doing everything they can to support Marti, but the costs are quickly adding up and making an already difficult time even harder.
